With a sensational $2,740,405,721 made worldwide from the film in just the 34 weeks it played in theaters, Avatar has hit number one on the box office charts almost doubling Titanic in 1997. Also ranking over The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, Avatar is expected to do very well in its re-release. Closely following these top sellers was Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland with its release in 2010. Avatar and Alice In Wonderland are just another two films showing that the high expectations that were set for them proved to be true.

Avatars special edition trailer is featured below.

The story of Avatar began in 1994 when Cameron wrote the 80 page script for the storyline. Filming should have began after Titanic was completed in 1997, but the technology Cameron needed to make the film sensational was not yet available. In early 2006, Cameron began to work on the film to have it completed and perfected by 2009 when it was released. Taking over $150 million to promote the movie, every dime was worth it. The amount of money Avatar made in theaters was more than Alice in Wonderland and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest combined. Avatar is sure to do amazing and hit record breaking numbers with its special edition release on Friday.
