The Myers House - North Carolina

Have you ever had a child hood obsession that you could just not let go of as an adult? I'm not talking about the likes of baseball cards or stamps here folks, I'm talking about hard core obsessions.

About The Myers House North Carolina

A man by the name Kenny Caperton in North Carolina had an obsession, only his was with John Carpenter's classic horror flick Halloween. He was such a huge fan of Michael Myers from Halloween that when he finally decided to make the plunge and build a house he decide to build a life size replica of Michael Myers house for his wife, his two cats and himself to reside in.

The house has been designed to be an exact replica of the original horror house from the outside, however the inside has taken upon a few changes to make the house more livable for the couple and their cats. The floors are obviously not broken and creaky and the appliances and furniture has been updated to not have that 70's feel to it. The only other major difference is that the Myers House North Carolina is built upon acreage in the country where the original was in more of a suburban location. Bylaws and building code restrictions in suburban areas pretty much made building a replica in suburbia nearly impossible.

The house was actually just completed this year in March of 2009, so very few people have actually had a chance to experience the Myers House. If you are a haunted house enthusiast I would highly recommend checking out one of their upcoming events to be one of the first amongst your friends to experience this horror flick fan's wildest dreams!

History of the Original Myers House
If you are unfamiliar with John Carpenter's Halloween. The original movie was actually filmed in a real live house as opposed to a set. The original house was located in South Pasadena and was built in 1888. The house was scheduled to be destroyed in 1987 in order to make room for a hospital development. Instead of destroying the house, it was moved from Meridian Avenue to Mission St where it is being occupied by businesses as office space.

Visiting The Myers House North Carolina
Kenny and Emily are pretty fantastic hosts. They have no problem having visitors come by to see the house and snap a few pictures, they even have a few annual events that are always a great time. The one thing they request is that you make an appointment prior to dropping by the house. Since it is where they live they can't just have people wondering around their yard without permission. If you aren't one for a private meeting, the Caperton's host numerous events every Halloween that you can show up to.
